Spanish firm will invest $130 mn in 50-MW wind project in Colombia

Corpoguajira, the supreme environmental authority of the Colombian department of La Guajira, has granted the environmental permit for construction and operation of the 50-MW El Ahumado wind project. The project is helmed by Guajira Eolica, a company established by Enerfin Sociedad de Energia SL, the wind unit of Spanish infrastructure builder Elecnor SA. The investment based on the preliminary design is estimated at $86 million. Colombian mines and energy minister Diego Mesa said that the investment will reach $130 million.

Colombian businesses ask government for up to $13.1 billion to stave off collapses

Colombian businesses asked the government to secure a loan from the central bank for between 30 trillion and 50 trillion pesos ($7.84 billion to $13.1 billion) to bail out companies at risk of collapse due to the impact of coronavirus. Proposals include a rescue package in which companies could issue bonds for future conversion to shares, as well as a capitalisation program under which the government would take part ownership of businesses.

Colombia’s private oil companies say ready to invest $715 mln in recovery

Private oil and gas companies in Colombia stand ready to invest some $715 million during the rest of 2020 to help kick-start the energy sector, the producers association said. "Private companies in Colombia are ready to invest close to $715 million in 2020 as part of resources that will be fundamental for the reactivation process," Francisco Lloreda, president of the Colombian Petroleum Association (ACP), said in a statement.
