Colombia launches $600 mm rural Wi-Fi tender

Colombia’s Ministry of Information Technology and Communications (Mintic) has announced a tender to build at least 9,410 digital centres with free Wi-Fi services in rural localities by 2022. The tender is open until 16 October, with the ministry allocating around $ 590 mm to the project. The project will build community centres with an indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi access point in 4,658 sites in 16 departments plus the Bogota capital district in the first contract and 4,753 sites in another 16 departments in the second contract.
