Between January and February 2021, the consumer's confidence index increased by 1.7 points, from 31.9 to 33.6, informed DANE yesterday. According to Juan Daniel Oviedo, DANE's director, this is explained by an increase in economic expectations at a household level.
Colombia has authorised the emergency use of Johnson & Johnson's one-shot COVID-19 vaccine, for which has already reached an agreement to buy 9 million doses. The country has also closed deals with Pfizer Inc and BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Moderna, Sinovac. These purchases are complemented by additional vaccines from the World Health Organization-backed COVAX mechanism.
In 2020, metallic mining grew by 22% and is expected to keep a positive trend this year, said Juan Camilo Nariño, president of the Colombia Mining Association (ACM). Eleven mining companies are currently exploring and producing new mining projects throughout the country. The new projects are Barrick Gold Corporation, Agnico Eagle, Fortesque Metals Group, Outcrop Minerals, High Power Exploration, Royal Road Minerals, Max resources, Libero Copper, Corporación Minera Los Cerros and JCHX Mining Managemen.
The National Federation of Coffee (FNC) foresees export sales at 2.7. billion (Co$ 10 billion) from 6 million coffee bags by the end of the first half of 2021. The workforce of more than 137,500 coffee collectors is expected to meet this production goal, said Roberto Velez, FNC's CEO.
