To increase to 12% the share of energy from non-conventional renewable sources, diverse companies plan to increase their green investments. In 2021, Celcia is investing about $349 million (Co$ 1.3 trillion). EPM announced plans to invest between $500 million and $1.5 billion in 40 different projects in the longer term. In the first quarter of 2021, Empresas Públicas de Medellín's (EPM) year-on-year operating revenue increased by 18% to $1.5 billion (Co$ 5.6 trillion). Net income totalled $230 million (Co$856 billion) and infrastructure investment $322 million (Co$ 1.2 billion) in the same period. According to EPM, higher commercial operations from its water dam portfolio contributed to this result.
Colombian electricity retailer Renovatio Trading Americas SAS ESP signed its first power purchase agreement (PPA) of a 9.5MW solar farm project, securing some 23 GWh per year. The platform is developing 240 MWp of projects in Colombia and expects to become the first domestic 100% renewable power supplier.
